Welcome to Plaid Wall

"Plaid Wall is the professional result of a friendship that started nearly two decades ago.  This is a partnership dedicated to film development, beginning with a collaborative effort in writing.

We come from a background in acting, music, and visual arts and have now turned our focus and attention toward screenwriting.

As we searched for Plaid Wall's identity, we always came back to one statement: "Let's just write movies that we would stand in line to pay $10.00 for on opening night!"

This website is dedicated to creating those movies!

Here you will find our current work as well as up coming projects.  So look around.  Read at your leisure.  And check back from time to time...we’re making more!"

Plaid Wall ... Movies we want to see!

NEWS

August 18th 2008

So it looks like we are on the six months plus update calendar plan!  Plaid Wall has been trucking on as usual.  The good news is that Kirk’s The Problem with the Ferrel Building took first place at the January 2008 “action” theme short contest over at MoviePoet.com.  He also placed sixth at New York Movie Madness with his Southern thriller Another Fool For Love.

Back in March, Austin was seen as the Scottish Waiter opposite Brook Shields in Lipstick Jungle.  And currently, as Plaid Wall continues to evolve, started a side project called The Actor’s Proletariat.  Private actor coaching at affordable prices for ALL!  You can find out more at www.actorsproletariat.com.

We have done some site updates.  Check out the stills from Four Fists of Rage!  You can even see some clips in Austin’s reel...also a new page!  Austin also stared in the fabulous short LONELY written and directed by Plaid Wall’s friend Andrew Robertson It won an on-line competition and was screened on REEL 13 Shorts here in New York on Thirteen/WNET.  You can check it out at www.andrew-robertson.com/lonelyguys.mov.

And as always we have slipped in a few more shorts for your reading enjoyment!

Hello all! It's been several months so it must mean that it's time for an update!

You should really go to our SHORTS (We wanted to call them jams...but I am
sure someone would have sued us!) PAGE cause we have been mad busy
writing us some shorts.  Titles like It Ain't the Heat, VHS Eternal, An
Eye for a Tooth, Mr. Wobbers Flight Plan, and Moonshine. With two
killer pieces just on deck! We've been working out at www.MoviePoet.com a site
dedicated to short screenplays so check 'em out they’re good folks over there!

As a matter of fact, Austin’s Cut Off won THIRD PLACE in MoviePoet’s monthly
online 5 page short screenplay competition!

We have also finally completed post on Four Fists of Rage:

Jake's dreams of fulfilling "The Plan", a pool hustling road trip of epic
proportions, are dashed when his partner in crime Wing informs him that
he has accepted a company job 2800 miles away. Jake proposes a new 'plan'
to help Wing move across country. However there's a catch. Wing must help
Jake accomplish a smaller life-long dream...get the 35 year old get into
a fight. On the road they discuss what it is like to be in a fight, who to
fight and when fighting makes you a man. They also dispute racist
cartoons, bathroom humiliations, and when do you give up on your dreams.
The latter prompting a colossal roadside argument that ends with Jake
hitting Wing in the face. Mission accomplished!

So look for a trailer soon and hopefully any upcoming festival information!
We also want to thank Adam Gussow of Satan and Adam and YouTube Blues
Harp Lessons fame for the use of his skills on Four Fists...we are in his
debt!  And you should also check out up and comer musician and poet Elijah
Miller on MySpace. A dear friend of Plaid Wall and another star contributor to
Four Fists!

VHS Eternal will be rolling into post this month...so look for announcements
regarding how to catch this sweet little short in the weeks to come!

And keep well,
-A & K

June 18th 2007

Is it already June?  Criminy!  In the immortal words of Nina Simone “Who knows where the time goes?”

Well if you are checking back in or it’s your first time WELCOME!

Over the past six months we have shifted our gears a bit.  Kirk has relocated to Los Angeles and is heading up our west coast operations.  Thanks to my wife, I flew down to help Kirk drive across country to his new home.  Five days full of testosterone and junk food!  We even wrote a short...AND SHOT IT!  Four Fists Of Rage is a killer tale of a coward hunting for a fight.  It is a spin off story inspired by the characters from The Wrong Side of Jackson.  So check out Fists in ‘Those are SOME SHORTS!’(that kinda sounds dirty don’t it?)

And right before Kirk left the Southeast we wrote another short gem called Snipe Hunt Massacre, The Movie..AND HE SHOT THAT!

So we have two shorts in the can and on their way to the site.  Look for Snipe Hunt in our shorts as well!

Kirk will be attending Pitch Fest later this week and I will hold down the fort in NYC.

December 11th 2006

It's been a very busy year for Plaid Wall. Not only have we been busy writing but we've been busy livin'!

Austin was married in June and Kirk has been rocking the Southeast with DANG! Culminating in November with a hell of a show at Jacksonville's Planet Fest.

We added our "Some Shorts!" page back in October after competing in the NYC Midnight Movie Madness Screenwriter's Challenge. This is the same competition that Kirk was a finalist in 2005. This year Austin was First Runner Up in his heat with "Eve_13." With our "Some Shorts!" page you can find anything from us cracking each other up to exploring upcoming feature length projects. So definitely count on more good times to show up there in the not too distant future. With great titles like: "Blame it on the Bandit", "Suzuki Left Her Boots On", "The Bathroom Chronicles Part I", and "The Greatest Vomit Story Ever Told!"

And as we promised you can now check out the entire screenplay for "Leann!" A chilling Southern noir thriller that proves you can never outrun the past.

We also ran the Screenplay Competition circuit this past year with "Six Guns In Silver" and managed to consistently make our way into the top 20%...so next year look to find us in the top 10%!!

That wraps up our news for now so enjoy "Leann," have a safe and happy holiday, and check back in 2007 for "The Wrong Side of Jackson."
